I am a disciple -- Coloring Page #16

***Great news! I'm turning my coloring pages into a beautiful coloring book and journal, which will be published and ready to ship just in time for Christmas! If you're interested, you can pre-order now on Kickstarter!***

Hello again! I finally have another coloring page for you -- this scripture was a request from my friend Wendy, and I finally have it finished only 10 days too late for the event she needed it for... Sorry, Wendy! But I really do love this bold declaration of discipleship found in 3 Nephi in the Book of Mormon, written by Mormon, the prophet who compiled all the records which would one day become the Book of Mormon. His life was so hard - he watched as his whole nation turned away from God until he and his son Moroni were the last disciples of Christ left - but that didn't change his determination to do all he could to follow the Savior and do what he could for his people and for all who would come after. And his identity as a disciple of Christ is what kept him from despair! It gave him joy and courage and wisdom and love, even in the face of the greatest adversity.

I decided to try something different for this week's page and go full-on folk art with the design. I've always loved the intricate flowers and bold shapes, and I thought this would give us lots of fun nooks and crannies to color. Have a lovely week, and check back in next week -- I've already got a page in the works that I really like.

Tomorrow the Lord Shall Do Wonders -- Coloring Page #15

***Great news! I'm turning my coloring pages into a beautiful coloring book and journal, which will be published and ready to ship just in time for Christmas! If you're interested, you can pre-order now on Kickstarter!***

This week's coloring page was a special request from my dear friend and former mission companion Lindsay Young. She sent me the story of the meaning behind it, sent to her by her friend Michelle, and it's so lovely I had to share it with you:

"I love the scripture that Elder Holland quoted in his last conference talk from Joshua, “Sanctify yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you.” The story that goes along with that is the Israelites came to the Jordan River to go into the Promised Land, and it was overflowing so they didn't know how they would cross. The Lord said to the priests that carry the ark of the covenant  "as soon as the soles of the feet of the priests...shall rest in the water Jordan" that he would stop the water.  The priests acted in faith and went into the river Jordan and the Lord stopped the water.  When everyone was safely on the other side, the Lord said that one member of each of the twelve tribes should go back into the riverbed and get a stone before the priests crossed and the water flowed again. They were then to take these stones and build a monument or memorial so that when their children and their children's children walked past this monument and asked, "What means these stones?" (verse 6 and 21) they would remember all the wonders that the Lord had done among them as their deliverer and redeemer."

There are times in our lives that we feel we're sure to be swept away by the deep river we're called to cross. I feel the Spirit testify so strongly that if we just move forward in faith, the Lord can make it possible. Thanks so much for sharing this wonderful story with me, Lindsay -- your timing for what I needed was truly inspired.

Fun sidenote about this one -- the wildflowers on this page are some that actually grow in Jerusalem. I loved the idea of beautiful things growing up around the monument as time passed. Thanks, Google!

Enjoy this week's free coloring page, and as always, feel free to share!
